Saint Lux of Prokofiev, patron saint of planetary sterilization

Humans are a universal symbol in modern culture, ranging from representations of intelligence, purity, or even love itself. Ever since the Revelation, Humanism has spread like no other religion throughout known space mostly through single contact events in which humans have manifested themselves to isolated sentient beings. Humans are anomalous carbon based lifeforms thought by many to be the closest servants to God¹, being Its assemblers, Its messagers and Its army. Their existence before divine intervention is a common topic of debate, and little concrete information exists on the subject. Nowadays, stories of direct human encounters with regular folk are not uncommon, however, they usually turn out to be fake.²

Human are space-dwelling beings responsible for the assembly of Its soul and construction of Its body³ through visions received after intense ritual and prayer. They have a complex respiratory system with 6 branching air sacs and an extra set of lungs protruding from their backs for a constant pumping of air, which allows them to absorb oxygen very efficiently, something necessary to maintain their enhanced brains, needed for their metaphysical work of comprehending the divine. Coupled with their modified larynx, this helps them have a great vocal capacity and an enormous voice range for their praises to It. Their slender bodies, exaggerated due to the lungs located inside the thoracic cavity being relatively smaller, are useful for locomotion in their low or zero gravity environments, which also ease the burden of carrying their “wings”. Humans only have evolutionary remnants of eyes, using echolocation as their primary sense.

St. Lux was one of the first humans made after the Revelation, created in an underground habitat at Prokofiev crater on Mercury, the planet humans are thought to have originated from⁴, and later in life was relocated to a space station. According to text, soon after, humanity was contacted by the natives of Alpha Centauri in an attempt to initiate friendly relations. She was the one who commanded humanity during the Alpha Centauri Genocide, using the power of the Sun system’s Dyson swarm to send mirrors carried by solar sails at a reasonable fraction of light speed with the purpose of establishing “temporary Dyson bubbles” around each star, which were then used to concentrate light and boil the oceans of all habitable planets, turning them into barren wastelands. For this, a notable part of Mercury's mass was used.

Currently it is estimated humanity has decimated two thirds of all sentient lifeforms in the galaxy in a poorly understood and unusual pattern. Even though the texts explain the risk certain lifeforms to Its assembly, there is historical evidence for humans having made complex projects to destroy threats tens of thousands of light-years away before wiping out much closer ones.

Both other rocky planets have been considered in the past, but Venus' high temperatures and atmospheric pressure and Earth's mostly hydrogen atmosphere and lack of biological byproducts or evidence of tempering by humans seem to indicate that both never had any life.
