The Missing Person and the Painter
this is from a world of mine called Dhegom (maybe i'll talk more about it). this drawing represents a religious mural from a faith called Julianism. obs: i intend to make a series of drawings depicting the various beliefs of this world, and i'm also releasing an image of this religion's founder, Juliano Magno, here on my website soon. it's turning out pretty cool ;3
TLDR; on Dhegom's magic system: there are two supernatural forces external to the world and that act upon reality (they emanate from the Flesh Planet, a misterious being that shows up in the sky at times), both of which represent aspects of the concept of "change": the Fading (a gentle and melancholic force of anihilation, death and endings) and the Patchwork (a chaotic and violent force of transformation, multiplicity and reestructuring). in this world there is such a thing as "divine revelation" (though it pretty much always gives out inconsistent answers) and various magical beings, some of which were originally human.
Julianism believes the Missing Person (the Fading) and the Painter (the Patchwork) are both two gods and two aspects of a single god, the Executor (the Flesh Planet), which was sent by the other gods to destroy the world when they forsake humanity for judging it too sinful. now, all that humans can do is pray to the Missing Person for gentle anihilation of their souls. therefore, the Missing Person is the god most actively worshipped by julianists, while the Painter is seen as a dangerous and fanciful god, which must be feared, but not worshipped.
